Bryce Harper is an aggressive participant when on the bases, and that aggression backfired on Monday night time throughout his Philadelphia Phillies’ 5-4 loss to the Atlanta Braves in Sport 2 of their NLDS.
Harper walked to guide off the highest of the ninth inning of the sport. J.T. Realmuto flew out for the primary out, after which teammate Nick Castellanos hit a blast to deep right-center off Raisel Iglesias.
Harper was on first base and was set on scoring on the play to tie the sport. Sadly for him and his Phillies, Michael Harris made a leaping catch in heart. Then Austin Riley was in the correct spot on the proper time and made a play to throw out Harper at first for a game-ending double play.
Had Harper been extra cautious, he doubtless wouldn’t have been doubled off first base.
When requested after the sport about Harper’s baserunning, Phillies supervisor Rob Thomson mentioned as softly as potential that his first baseman screwed up.
